Sodium hyaluronate (hyaluronic acid, also known as hyaluronic acid, commonly known as hyaluronic acid) has been approved as a new food raw material,
which can be used in ordinary food additives, the National Health Commission (NHC) announced recently.
This marks the further opening of China’s hyaluronic acid terminal food market and a new milestone in the development of China’s hyaluronic acid industry.
Sodium hyaluronate and products based on it are currently permitted in food or dietary supplements in Japan,
South Korea, the United States, the European Union, Australia, New Zealand and Brazil.
Based on the approved use in other countries and international organizations, this product application is extended to
milk and dairy products, beverages, alcohol, cocoa products, chocolate and chocolate products
(including cocoa butter chocolate and products), confectionery, frozen drinks.
In 2019, the global food-grade hyaluronic acid terminal products market reached about 350 million US dollars,
and is expected to reach about 480 million US dollars by 2024, indicating a broad market prospect.
